Patar Shawarma

Serving Glendale

Glendale's Shawarma, Right Here on Colorado St

We didn't pick Glendale by accident. This city knows shawarma better than almost anywhere in America, and we put our spit at 625 E Colorado St anyway — because we think ours holds up. Come decide for yourself.

On Colorado, a Few Blocks from the Americana

If you've spent an evening at the Americana at Brand watching the fountain do its thing, you're about a five-minute walk from our counter. Glendale Galleria shoppers, Brand Blvd office crowds, families heading home off the 134 — Colorado St catches all of it, and we sit right on it at number 625. Street parking is usually findable on Colorado and the side streets, and there's lot parking near the building when it isn't.

Opening a shawarma spot in this city means something. Glendale's Armenian food scene sets a bar that most of Los Angeles never has to clear — the kebab houses, the bakeries, the grandmothers who will tell you exactly what's wrong with your marinade. We respect that. It's why everything here is done the slow way: meat stacked and seasoned in-house, carved off the spit when you order, never sitting under a heat lamp waiting for you.

Fresh off the Spit, with Real Toum

Our meat is marinated overnight and stacked fresh on the spit every morning. The spit turns all day, so the outside layer is always the crisp, caramelized part — that's the layer you get, because we carve to order rather than carving ahead. Our toum is the house obsession: garlic, lemon, oil, salt, whipped until it stands up on its own. No mayo shortcuts. People in this neighborhood can taste the difference, which is exactly why we don't cut that corner.

Wrap it, plate it, or pile it over rice and salad — the spit doesn't care how you order it, and neither do we. Chicken and beef both turn daily, the pickles are sharp, the garlic is generous, and nothing on the menu needs a paragraph of explanation. That's on purpose. Shawarma done right explains itself in the first bite, and in a city where half the customers grew up eating the real thing, there's nowhere to hide a shortcut anyway.

Open Till 2 AM, Every Night of the Week

Glendale isn't really a town that goes to bed early, but a lot of its kitchens do. We don't. The doors stay open until 2 AM daily, which means the after-movie crowd from the Americana, the late shift getting off on Brand, and everyone whose dinner plans fell apart at 11 PM all end up at the same counter. Call (747) 377-0707 and your order is carved and wrapped by the time you pull up. If you'd rather not leave the couch, DoorDash, Uber Eats, and Grubhub all carry us across Glendale.

Questions, answered

Where do I park near 625 E Colorado St?+

Street parking on Colorado St and the surrounding side streets is usually the quickest option, and there's lot parking near the building as well. If you're already at the Americana or the Galleria, honestly, just walk — it's a few blocks.

Do you have vegetarian options?+

Yes — falafel fried to order, hummus whipped daily, salads, fries, and warm pita. The falafel wrap is a full meal, not a consolation prize.

How late are you open?+

Until 2 AM, every single day. We open at 11 AM, so lunch through very-late-night is covered.
